Bibliotéka Book Fair 2019 in Bratislava
The book fair Bibliotéka has a long tradition and is a vital part of the fall in the capital, Bratislava. It represents a meeting place for those who write, illustrate, translate, publish, print, sell, lend and read books. Through the support from domestic publishers as well as the interest of international publishers, the fair enjoys a great interest from professional visitors as well as the general public. On November 7 to 10, 2019, it welcomed all genres, be it non-fiction, romance novels, sci-fi, crime stories, children’s books, religious literature and poetry. The rich offer of books is accompanied by off program dedicated to books and reading, including meetings with favorite authors, book signings, book launches, dramatized readings and workshops for children.
Concurrently with the book fair Bibliotéka, there was an exhibition of education and didactic technology called Pedagogika aimed at presenting textbooks, educational software and teaching aids, as well as board games, puzzles and other products that develop thinking and analytical and logical abilities.
The Bibliotéka Award for the Best Slovak Literary Work by a Female Author (includes prose, poetry and children’s books) began in 2007 and was once again presented during the opening ceremony of the Bibliotéka book fair. This year, the jury of professionals comprised of Taranenková, Miroslava Vallová, Tina Čorná and Veronika Dianišková sifted through over 260 authors and eventually awarded the prize to author Toňa Revajová and her book Rok Sivka ohniváka published by TRIO Publishing in 2018.
